I flew to Japan with one man and two women. We went shopping at a membership warehouse and filled our carts to the top.

I was first of our group to get into a checkout line, and realized that we would have to put all of this stuff on the airplane to get it home. There was too much stuff and too heavy for the airline to let us on with it.

One of the ladies behind me was unloading her cart full of canned goods and I told her that we wouldn’t be able to take any of the stuff home with us. She froze holding up one can, and we left our carts in line.

At the airport we had difficulty going through customs. Back home, I went to the high school on my bicycle.

B and I were shopping at a member’s warehouse akin to Costco’s. The aisles were so far apart from each other that we had to traverse the warehouse in our car. We stood looking through the racks of shirts and he pulled out a really pretty antique chemise with blue lace around the neckline for me to try on. I knew that it was too small, but I put it into the cart to try on anyway.

I remembered that I needed to get some face wash, so we drove over to the personal hygiene area. The area reminded me of the lumber yard where B used to work. The road between the aisles was very muddy, and we drove in and out of a ton of aisles but could not find the face wash or the shampoo. I saw some shampoo bottles in gallon jugs across a large mud pit, and I knew that the face wash would be over there as well.

We started across the mud pit and saw a little dog running around the mud pit. I could tell that it was a Miniature Schnauzer like our Lacey, and I wanted to pick it up and take it home. I saw an empty silver Oldsmobile parked by the shampoo and knew that the dog belonged to the car owner.

B said that he was really hungry, so we drove off with a group of senior citizen tourists to look for a food aisle or café.

Mom had adopted a little toddler girl, and I took her everywhere with me. She had soft blonde curls and wore a lot of dresses. We were in a warehouse with Damon, and I watched her walk here and there, touching everything. I loved her a lot. I picked her up and she kissed me on the cheek.

Then I was at church waiting for Tina’s wedding to start. Everyone in the wedding party was still dressed in jeans and t-shirts, and they did practice runs while the audience waited.

I had a plate of food and was sitting in the very back row with high school friends. Loren said something about needing a Squirt, reaching for his soda. I made a sexual joke about the name of his soda and him needing some semen. Ryan stood a bit away from the group trying to get our full attention - he was singing, or dancing, or something similar. He was very funny.

I stood in a large warehouse with rows of very tall shelves. Each shelf was piled with raw meat. There were no signs, but I knew that each aisle held a different type of meat: I could easily make out chicken, pork, beef, moose, and deer.

People stood in and on top of the meat moving it around. No one wore gloves, but I did not find this odd or disgusting.

I walked through the aisles and came across Ryan kneeling on the floor with a piece of white bread probably seven feet square. It was the piece in the loaf that is right next to the heel, and one side of it had heel-like qualities. He complained that the bottom was uneven due to this, and he enlisted my help in cutting it off.

My family was at Costco in Anchorage buying groceries. Mom was relatively young and was wearing a white dress and bonnet from the late 1800s; she was also holding a newborn baby. Along one side of the warehouse was a long string of train cars. I walked up and down them with my dad. When we went around to the other side of the cars, we saw that “$1,000” had been painted in white on one of the cars.

My dad thought that one thousand dollars was a great deal for 6 train cars. The bagger tried to put them into a metal grocery cart while we paid for them, but she couldn’t make them fit. She could get two into the basket, but no more.

Dad decided to come back for them at a later date and so we went to the car to leave. I frantically looked around for Mom because she wasn’t in the car with us. When I asked Dad to wait for Mom, he told me that we were leaving her at Costco. This made me very angry with my dad.

Back at home, I went out onto the dirt road and hitched a ride. I intended to go back to Anchorage to get my mom. The ride I hitched was with some men in an RV. Not far up the road they pushed me out of the back door; I walked home.

I stopped by our neighbor’s and found that my Mom was hiding in their basement sewing. I was very happy to have her back near home.

B and I walked into a large warehouse packed with hundreds of people. The entire dream was in shades of brown. We had come in the back door and made our way to the front. There we saw John and Heidi waving at us; they had our tickets.

We walk up a few flights of stairs to an equally packed balcony to scope out the place. I head back downstairs to see Damon and Dana coming in the front door. Dana is holding her dog Glory and looking very worried about all the people and not being able to find us. I hand them their tickets.

I was in Sam’s Club with Melissa walking down the aisle of checkout counters; we were hungry and decided to get some food from the little diner. We turned left to look at the diner at the back of the store: it was just closing for the night.

We were a little discouraged but were so hungry that we decided to settle for the small deli off to the side of the store. Through the glass on one side we could see that it offered rolled up pieces of sliced ham sitting in a pile, on the other side was a pile of sliced cheddar cheese.

We turned around and saw Dani and one other person eating an ice cream cone. I wondered where she got it.

While standing and talking with her, the view was as if there was a camera directly above us zooming out. The camera, as it were, could not pick up any sound of the conversation.

I am walking through the large aisles of a concrete warehouse. I open one door and walk into Melissa’s bedroom. Lying on the floor by the waterbed is my friend Abi and her husband. They are under blankets as though they were falling asleep; the light is on in the room.

Abi sits up and tells me how it’s terrible that the warehouse people don’t let them sleep in or stay in the room during the afternoons. She says that people staying in the other rooms are allowed to, just not her.

I step out of the doorway to look down the hallway at the other rooms of which she speaks. I see the door to my parents’ bedroom and feel guilty because that is the room I am staying in. I don’t want Abi to know that I have one of the more favorable rooms.

Stepping back into the room, Melissa is lying where Abi was. She is naked. The blankets are covering her from the waist down, and I can only see her white back because she is in a contorted position.

I am standing really close to her and Abi’s husband and then lie down to talk to Melissa. I bump my foot against something. I look under the blankets and see that I have bumped a sleeping baby - Abi’s baby. I also see a dog sleeping under the blankets.

My father and I were driving through an urban street late at night. He was driving and I was in the passenger’s seat gawking at all the tall buildings. We were the only car on the road and were going home from some event. We made a stop at Sam’s, a local membership warehouse, to get a few items. Standing in the checkout line as my dad is buying tube socks and Swiss cheese, I glance to my left and see Desultory, an online friend whom I have never met, at another checker. He has two carts loaded down with items to buy. He looks up and recognizes me, but there is no communication between us. My father’s tube socks were taking an inordinate amount of time to process.

I was leaving from a warehouse type store (like Costco or Sam’s) with Pam and mom and someone else (I cannot remember). Mom told me that Katy Stevens (a high school friend I haven’t seen in a few years) had called while I was gone and had promised to call back that evening. Mom and the other person got into the car and drove off while Pam and I walked. I was going to bring some mail to the post office. I felt awkward walking with Pam alone because we haven’t talked in forever, and she wasn’t talking in the dream. It was snowing outside, and there was a well-worn path in the snow that we followed. For part of the way it followed some train tracks. The path got terribly narrow so that even in single file we couldn’t stay on it properly. I fell a few times.

We finally walked up a small hill and, while there, noticed that there was a couple in a bed behind us being very friendly with each other. We went another step and then suddenly there was a couple in the bed in front of us. Neither the couples nor the beds had previously been there. We smiled at each other and, not wanting to scare the couple, but to keep moving, told one couple that we were on the path and just needed to pass through. So we climbed over the bed.

We made it to my room and Pam was no longer with me. I went in and closed the door. I was looking for the mail I had to drop off at the post office and was going to change when my bedroom door was thrown open. There was standing Heath Herrington with his wife and another couple. I asked what they were doing barging into my room this way - he said that I had no right crawling over their bed earlier and he was mad. They all came in harassing me and I couldn’t get them to leave. I had a brush in my hand, which I swung at Heath as he was leaving, but he is much larger than I. So he came back in and pushed me to the floor. I was trying to put on my other shoe so I could properly run, but it didn’t fit. I looked and it was Heath’s wife’s pink sandal that was too large for me.

After much screaming they finally left. I ran down the hall, with the mail, to my Aunt Cris to complain. She was reading a magazine and said there was nothing she could do and I shouldn’t stress it. I was so irate at having my privacy invaded and her being so nonchalant made me even more upset. I went and found mom and she asked if Katy had called yet. I told her no. And she said that it must have been a prank call or something.
