I was riding my bicycle following a stronger, faster, fitter woman through the city. We rode up and down large hills and I lost sight of her. I arrived at a hotel and went to the top floor.

In the observatory at the top of the hotel there was a very long line of people to view this cyclist, as though she were an attraction. When I got to the front of the line I had to stand on the hand railing with my face pressed against the glass because the others kept pressing forward.

The woman cyclist sat on the floor, leaning back on her arms with one leg out straight and one bent at the knee, looking out over the city. The people viewing her from behind glass didn’t bother her at all.

Back downstairs in the hotel dining room I saw Christopher from The Sopranos sitting at a dining table. He bit into the head of a 3-foot black beetle that was still squirming. I couldn’t believe that he was going to eat that bug alive right in front of me.

I turned away and went back into the foyer. Dr. Melfi stood there arguing with Tony Soprano; she was a large centipede half standing and half slithering, wearing a very smart business suit. I looked back into the dining room and saw the headless beetle was still wiggling its legs.

My parents had bought a very large and nice house. A man came to look at it and I had to put Lacey into a room in the basement and close the door so that she wouldn’t bark at him. The man bought the house weeks after my parents had bought it.

I asked my mom how much they made from flipping the house, and she said in awe, “$37,000.” I was surprised that they had made so much. I was happy for them, and wondered if they shouldn’t try it again.

Steve and I were trying to find a hotel in Fairbanks; we were having trouble finding any vacancies because we hadn’t made any plans until we had gotten there. I rattled off a few different hotels we could try, and thought about the one behind the mall because I’d always wanted to try it.

Then I remembered that the hotel I was thinking about is in Anchorage, not Fairbanks, and I could stay in my own home in Anchorage.

Two friends and I were stayign on the third floor of a hotel. We knew people who were staying on the tenth floor. We took an elevator that only went up to floor 4, while the people we knew took the elevator in the tower. In the lobby, we said goodbye to each other as we went opposite ways to our respective elevators.

Two older women got on our elevator; they were going to floor 2. The bottom of the elevator swung a little bit, and I felt dizzy. I asked if anyone else felt it, but no one did. Then all of a sudden the elevator walls went clear and we could see outside over the side lawn, which was covered in snow.

The elevator was traveling above the yard, as if it was taking us on a tour of the property. I leaned out and could see a cable high above us that the elevator was travailing along.

We came around a huge wooden play set, but the elevator wasn’t lined up right and instead of passing between two close posts, it hit one rather hard. My friend Jessica jumped out of the elevator and ran to the hotel building. I got out and guided it around the post, but when I got back in, the elevator hit something else. We got out of the elevator and went back to the hotel.

The door we entered in was near the bar. I asked the bartender to speak to the hotel manager. As I waited for the manager to arrive, I tried to make small talk with the people standing at the bar. The older man standing to my right thought I was flirting with him: he had had quite a bit to drink already.

I turned to leave and saw the manager, a tall skinny woman in her late 40s, smoking a pencil cigarette holder with a fur around her neck. she hardly listened when I told her about the malfunctioning elevator. She stared out into the lobby and mostly ignored me.

My mother and I stepped into a hotel elevator, the place was very dirty and gross. The floor of the elevator was sloped down away from the door, and a tiny furry creature with a curled nose like an anteater sat on floor staring at us.

I asked my mom what it is, and she said it is a mouse, but I didn’t believe her. He keeps staring at me as I move away from him, holding up my skirt. I didn’t want to admit that I was afraid of him, but I knew that if he touched my legs I would scream.

When we got to our dirty room, we found some fresh, hot pizza had just been delivered. I opened the cupboards above the sink and found a ton of plastic plates and cups, and managed to pull out two matching plates — white with delicate blue flowers — for the pizza.

I turned around with the plates and Jen is there with us. I told her that I am quitting my job, and she asked what kind of job I am looking for. I told her that I haven’t started looking yet, but that I wouldn’t mind working at Home Depot. I quickly correct myself and stress that I had really meant Lowe’s; I wouldn’t mind working at Lowe’s.

She said that they are accepting applications right now, and dragged me down to the store to fill one out. But instead of simply filling out an application, there was a whole process to go through. There was a white room with many people at many desks, two of which were talking to applicants.

In front of me were two model-type girls, but they were just standing around. I made my way to the two women, both my age, talking with applicants, but they told me they were in the middle of helping someone else.

I went back to the doorway to wait, and watched the model-type girls go into the bathroom one at a time, and when they came back out they sat down with one of the recruiters. After the models left and progressed to the next room, I sat with one of the recruiters.

She handed me a clipboard with a yellow application and while I began filling it out, she pulled out a small blue plastic tube, shaped like a tampon, and put it up inside of me. Shocked at being violated in such an unexpected way, I asked her what it was for. She said it was for a test and not to worry. I assumed it was for a drug test, so I tried to forget about it.

I finished my paperwork, handed it to the recruiter who stood up with it and brought it to someone else’s desk. I pulled the blue plastic tube out of me because it really hurt. There were many pieces to the tube, each of which I was sure I did not get back together quite correctly.

When she came back to her desk I held the tube out to her and told her why I had removed it myself, but she just furrowed her brow. She took the tube from me and handed it off to a cute man, also about my age, who ushered it into another white room.

She looked over my application and asked a few questions when the boy came back and told her that I had tested negative for all known substances, but one of the graphs had a bubble in it. I asked him what that meant, and he told me that it was fine and not to worry about it. I asked him if it was a hormone chart, if it meant I could be pregnant, if something could be wrong, but he went back into his lab. My recruiter told me I could proceed to the next room, the room I saw the models go into.

When I got through the door I saw the rest of my singing and performing group. They were all dressed to the nines for a competition. I pulled on my dress and asked Ryan for some help with lacing my black corset. I wanted him to slip his arms around me, but he didn’t. The lacing took some time to complete, but once it was finished I looked great. We won the competition, which meant we got to host the next competition.

We dressed in our finest ball gowns for the next competition, and Cher welcomed all of the new competitors. She had four mechanical arms strapped to her back that spun in a circle that the competitors absolultely loved. They also were very excited that Cher was there.

I was very chipper that morning so I went downstairs to street level and asked the Mayor, who was sitting at his empty desk, if there was anything I could get for him. I rarely asked him if there was anything I could do for him, even though it was my job.

He got up from his desk and headed outside while telling me that I was to find five more Mayors for him. Pull them off the street, dress them up, he didn’t much care. And then he was gone.

I headed back out to the party and went to get myself a drink. One of the tables was filled with pink lemonade and blue lemonade, making a beautiful visual with all of the cups filled with alternating pink and blue drinks.

I noticed a commotion surrounding one of the guests, and I saw that he was very handsome. All of the girls in my group were trying to outdo each other getting him something to drink. He was wearing an expensive grey pinstripe suit and a goregeous silk tie with a pristine white shirt.

I interrupted the hoopla about him and told the girls to leave him alone before they stained his white shirt. He sat next to me and thanked me, re-buttoning his jacket so that the two pink and blue spots on it were better hidden.

We talked at length about many things. I complimented his tie, and he leaned far over the table at me and we kissed. I smiled knowing that I had gotten the man everyone else had wanted. He scooted closer to me and we kissed again, longer and deeper this time.

We were both lying on our backs, and I undid his tie and played with it. I told him about the task the Mayor had given me, and he asked if I had found five yet. Giggling, I replied that I had only found one, but that he would have to put his tie back on to play the part. He laughed.

I had checked into a hotel and could see the large windows of each room/cabin lining the foyer. I was told that the upper floors of the hotel were reserved for upperclassmen and, as a freshman, I would have to remain on the ground level.

I dropped my stuff off in my room and sneaked upstairs to see the areas in which I was not allowed. I sneaked into one unlocked room and found myself standing before a large wall divided into wooden cubicles. The wood was very expensive and nicely polished. I started planning on how I would arrange my stuff in the cubicles when I heard the room’s occupant open the door.

I ran up to a large metal gate right as the doors closed. It was cold and dark out, and I was wearing a parka. I rang the doorbell and two men came out of the gate with machine guns pointed at me.

I got down on my knees and put my gloved hands in the air. I knew I was going to be okay and wanted to remove one of my gloves to show this.

The two men led me through the gate and to a large mansion like building. Inside it resembled a hotel and a dormitory. There were a lot of young men, approximately college aged, standing and talking around the foyer.

I was very tired and really wanted to sleep. One man was put in charge of me, and I had to wait in the foyer for him. I couldn’t understand what the men around me were saying. I was led up a staircase; the upper floor resembled a dormitory hallway and a hospital hallway.

I walked around the square hall. Mostly there were doors, like in a dormitory, but one side of the building had a long row of beds and no separate rooms. I saw on one bed a girl slept naked and the covers fell off of her as she slept. I felt embarrassed for her in a house full of men.

The only place available was in a double bed on the end of the long row; I shared it with a sick man. I crawled under the covers, trying not to touch the man on the other side of the bed, and wanted to find the boy in charge of me.

He found me and led me to his small but private room. He closed the door behind me and pressed me against it. He pressed his body against mine, and all I could think about was how hard his body was. He kissed me and his bed was on the opposite end of the small room.

The hotel was on fire. I ran through the hallways and stumbled upon a fast food restaurant in the middle of the hotel that I did not know was there. They did not know about the fire - no alarm was going off - so I told them to get out of the building.

The hallways I was running through were meant for staff, not guests, but they are completely deserted. I was not supposed to be in the hotel - I found my way in through the parking garage.

Outside the fire engulfs the parsonage. The youth pastor was standing on the roof helping others down while the building structure was collapsing from the fire. There was nothing I could do to help, so I turned around and left.

In the ally behind the hotel, Melody tried to sell drugs to me. I couldn’t understand why she was trying to sell drugs when the building was on fire. There were more important things on my mind.

I walked down First Avenue downtown and saw a large crowd gathered at a large, bright orange building. The large building was the new hotel in town, and the hotel was holding a grand opening celebration.

I made my way to the front of the crowd and through the front door. The interior was burnt orange in a bad retro sort of way. The woman behind the front desk had a small beehive; she was reading the newspaper and smoking a cigarette. The elevators did not work.

B and I were standing in the lobby of a hotel. In front of us were four elevator doors in a line, numbered 1-4. Numbers 2, 3, and 4 opened and other people filed into them. I started to follow them, but then realized that they only went to the 8th floor: elevator #1 went to the 14th floor.

Since B and I wanted to see the view from the tower, we waited for elevator #1 to open its doors. I jumped inside and wedge my body in-between the closing doors to hold it open for B. He barely made it inside.

Melissa, Damon and I went with Karen B to Paris. I was amazed at how short the flight was and that we had no layovers - the last time I went to Paris I had a layover in Chicago and the flight was extraordinarily long.

Once there, I realized that I didn’t ask my parents if I could go and they didn’t know where Melissa and I were. I mentioned this to Damon, and he said that his wife didn’t know where he was, either, but that the trip was only for 24 hours so its okay. I told him that no, the tickets were for 5 days - I had seen them. He wasn’t concerned at all, but he was going to be on vacation next week, and his wife would not be happy.

We checked into the best western. Karen didn’t speak French so I tried talking to the man at check-in counter. He was sitting on the other side of a wide desk behind a glass window.

“Salut. Parlez-vous Englais?” He didn’t speak any English. He spoke hundreds of languages, but not English. I tried to form the sentence, ‘may we have the key to our room, please?’ but all I could remember were the nouns for key and room. After some pantomiming, he gave us our key and we went out onto the sidewalk to find our room.

All the room doors were right on the road, and we walked past a few doors marked in the mid-400s. Our room was #6, and it was going to be a very, very long time before we reached our door. Karen called us back to the lobby and suggested we go out the other door on the other side of the building - that is where the lower numbers would start.

I stood in the doorway of an invisible elevator at the top of a very tall hotel. My logical mind kept telling me that it was made of glass. The attendant tried to prompt me to step forward onto the invisible platform he was standing on. I wouldn’t move from the doorway.

It was my birthday and someone was throwing me a gigantic party. The banquet room of a prestigious hotel had been reserved and there were many people there - some I knew and some I did not. But that did not bother me because of how much fun I was having. Everyone was called onto the dance floor. I was expecting a dance contest, but instead the DJ passed out climbing harnesses and instructed everyone to put them on.

We did as instructed and realized that each harness was attached to the ceiling with huge bungee cords. I was able to bounce around the large room and almost touch my head to the ceiling. It was a lot of fun. The DJ passed around many different sized Styrofoam balls then said, “Go!” Everyone was unsure of what to do and what the balls were for, so we made up our own rules. It became one large bouncy version of dodge ball.

One boy I did not recognize was lying on the floor appearing wounded. I went to see if he was all right and he nodded his head yes. I turned away and he hit me with his ball. Without speaking and without body language, he communicated to me that I was ‘out.’ With a big grin on his face and an astonished look on mine, I tossed mine at his foot. I communicated back in the same manner that if I were ‘out,’ then so was he. But there were no rules and, therefore, no losers.

When we were done, I put on a large bathrobe and walked back towards my room with my husband by my side. I passed the dinner table and saw an old friend Tina sitting at the head of the table in her best formal gown. Her mother was walking towards the table from my right dressed in a similar manner. I had forgotten that dinner required formal wear. I asked Tina’s mom if she liked my gown, then hurried to my room to change.

My room looked like a room on a large sea vessel with dark wood walls and a small porthole. I checked the answering machine and saw that there were twelve messages. I found this quite odd since we had only been gone an hour or two. The LED that illuminated the number twelve changed into a small text message that blinked and faded and blinked and rotated. I could not quite make out the words. Then the phone rang.
