I was riding my bicycle following a stronger, faster, fitter woman through the city. We rode up and down large hills and I lost sight of her. I arrived at a hotel and went to the top floor.

In the observatory at the top of the hotel there was a very long line of people to view this cyclist, as though she were an attraction. When I got to the front of the line I had to stand on the hand railing with my face pressed against the glass because the others kept pressing forward.

The woman cyclist sat on the floor, leaning back on her arms with one leg out straight and one bent at the knee, looking out over the city. The people viewing her from behind glass didn’t bother her at all.

Back downstairs in the hotel dining room I saw Christopher from The Sopranos sitting at a dining table. He bit into the head of a 3-foot black beetle that was still squirming. I couldn’t believe that he was going to eat that bug alive right in front of me.

I turned away and went back into the foyer. Dr. Melfi stood there arguing with Tony Soprano; she was a large centipede half standing and half slithering, wearing a very smart business suit. I looked back into the dining room and saw the headless beetle was still wiggling its legs.

I was at work and needed a small box to mail something. The whole staff was in the kitchen and I couldn’t get to the refrigerator because people were standing in front of it.

Carrie was holding a wooden box that I had received many years ago as a gift: it had come with a watch inside of it. The box was the perfect size for mailing my item. I was going to ask her if I could have it, but aliens landed and everyone excitedly rushed outside to meet them.

Carrie took the box outside with her and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to mail anything with aliens now here, but I really wanted that box.

I was then outside walking down the street toward home. Aliens were building things near where they had landed; they were settling down. The entire street looked like a construction zone with piles of building materials here and there.

Ahead of me on the right side of the street was a very tall structure, about three stories tall, and I could tell that it was the bottom half of an extremely large robot. The idea of a very large alien robot makes me very concerned; no one realized what the giant robot could mean, but I knew it wouldn’t be very good.

I had received a package slip in the mail and the sender’s phone number listed on the slip was B’s. At the Post Office there was a very long line of people and five workers at the counter. I was called to the first worker on the left and handed him my slip.

He looked at my slip, picked it up, and stood still. I waited, wondering what he was doing, when the worker at the far right of the counter called the next customer. The couple behind me headed that direction but the man helping me called to them and told me that I had to take my slip to the person on the far right.

When I handed my slip to the woman, she nodded and said that they don’t get many packages and not everyone knows what to do with them. She disappeared in the back for a bit, and returned with a very large box with all four flaps opened at the top.

She had to set the box on the counter to reposition the things inside the box and I could see picture frames in the box I didn’t recognize. On top of the box was a framed photo of Pam and me, underneath which were a lot of other photographs that I only half recognized.

The woman gave me the box and I tried to stuff everything back in and close the flaps, but I could only get it half closed. I put it on top of my other box and left the counter. On my way our of the Post Office I almost dropped the box and had to prop it against the wall to keep it from falling.

I put the box on one of the tables in the foyer and decided I would make two trips to the car. I went back inside with Steve and he picked up the box with ease. There was a typed note sitting on top of the box informing postal customers to not leave their mail in the building unattended. I threw the note away.

The parking lot was dark and my car was difficult to find. Then we were at a store; we went in and Steve grabbed a cart. Everything in the store was very cheap because they were having a huge sale. We walked past the personal care section and Steve spotted a shampoo made of beans. He picked the bottle up and said that he had wanted to try some of it, but decided to not get any.

Then we were sitting across from each other at a table with a bunch of other people. A woman in her late 30s was standing nearby drinking alcohol and asked Steve to hold her drink while she left to do something.

When she returned she was naked and hopped into Steve’s lap. He put his arms around her and leaned in for a kiss, but she leaned back. He tried again and again she pulled away. Then he sat back, disinterested, and she leaned forward and put her hands on his face. I didn’t like her.

At work, my coworker Jeff took the phones off forwarding before I could get to it. While standing in a long hallway I told my supervisor Rhonda that I wasn’t logged in yet.

I went into a hospital room with a donor’s family; the donor had not yet died and I sat with the donor’s wife. Jeff and my father and other staff members kept walking through the room while we waited for the man to die.

The man’s wife asked about the frequency of letters we would send her after donation. I listed all of the contact that we would make, but couldn’t remember how many phone calls Linda usually made to the family. I wasn’t supposed to be talking with the family yet and felt very unprepared. The woman was grateful for the information.

I invited her to a quieter room in the back where there wouldn’t be so many people walking through the room. We stood up to leave and my dad kissed me on the lips. The woman looked surprised and asked how I knew him. I could tell that she knew him, too. I told her that he was my father. I wanted him to let go of me.

I was going to Paris. At the airport counter before the flight I was required to sign a bunch of papers. After three or four signatures I started signing my maiden name. The second time I signed my maiden name I caught myself and looked at it. I decided that I was changing my last name after all, and was excited for my trip to Paris.

My brother John’s house was very quiet, clean, open and spacious. Steve, Byrd, Rose and I were the only ones there. A pile of my freshly-trimmed hair sat on the counter in the kitchen. I glued some of the hair to Byrd’s cup as a joke.

Rose declared that she was going to glue a lot of the hair to Tay’s cereal bowl. Rose said that she will make the hair thick and black. I went into the living room and sat on the couch next to Steve. He asked how Rose was going to make the hair thick and dark. I shrugged.
