Dream Journal
I was at the grocery store with Michael. With the basket slung over my arm, I turned to him and asked him to reach something on the very top shelf for me.

While I was cleaning out the bedroom closet, I pulled down a box I didn’t recognize. I opened it up and found three or four pairs of nice leather boots. There were a few black pairs, a tan pair, and some red ones. I knew that Michael had gotten them for me and that I wasn’t supposed to find them yet.
I pulled the red ones out of the box an slipped them on. They had pointy toes and tall heels and came all the way up to the top of my thighs. The tops were folded over like an asymmetrical cuff. I slid the zippers up the inside of my thighs and the boots fit perfectly.
I stood up from the corner of the bed and my skirt fell down over the top of the boots. I wanted to show off the cute cuffed tops and decided I needed a much shorter skirt. I found a tiny black skirt in my closet that, while barely covering my butt, left an inch of skin between the tops of the boots and its hemline.

A tall black guy was gripping the tops of my arms so firmly that it hurt. He was removing me from an attic, pushing me along in front of him. I was sure there was some misunderstanding, that he had me confused with someone else, and I tried to show him the confusion by the color of my skin; I am certain that he must really have wanted a black girl. I pulled down the neckline of my shirt further and further until my breasts are exposed so he can see that I am white all over, but he doesn’t look and pushes me on.
I was with some other kids my age in a large mansion. We were all dressed in Victorian-style clothing. I had been here before visiting relatives, and through it had been many years I still remembered where my favorite game was. I pulled it out of the cupboard and started setting it up.
I had to pry tiny red and blue pegs the size of nail tacks out of tiny holes. The game was similar to chinese checkers but was much more complicated, involving over one hundred pegs and different types of holes.
I looked up and a girl was standing one level above me. I followed her through the house and when I returned to the game board all of the pegs had been removed and separated in perfect preparation for a new game. Instead of just the red and blue pegs I had remembered, there were pegs of all colors of the rainbow.
We were then standing with a group of adults who were talking. We stepped to the side so us kids could talk at our leisure.
Steven stood to my right side and leaned in very close so he could whisper in my ear. At first what he told me was funny, but then it became very intimate. I could feel the warmth of his breath and his lips brushing my ear ever so slightly.
His fiancée Megan stood in front of us with a big silly grin on her face. She did not understand what was happening and acted quite childlike. While his lips kept kissing my right ear he poked Megan in the stomach with his finger. She laughed too loud.
I pulled my car into a small parking lot behind one car and next to another. I got out of the drivers’ seat and stood leaning against my door with my left hand on my hip. Michael and another man stepped out of the door of the house in front of me and stood on the deck talking for a bit before Michael saw me.
When he saw me, Michael turned in the middle of the conversation he and the other man were having, ran down the deck stairs, and headed right toward me with a big smile on his face. We hadn’t seen each other in a very long time and by the look on his face I knew I looked beautiful. He leaned over the hood of my car and gave me a big kiss.
The other man was left standing alone on the deck and was surprised that Michael knew me. He was jealous of Michael, and that made Michael very happy.

I was at the rehearsal for Steven and Megan’s wedding. I sat at the top of a man-made cliff with my legs dangling over a man-made waterfall. All of the edges were perfectly straight and the corners perfectly square. The whole thing was beautiful.
Steven stood behind me quite a ways but I could sense him there. I decided to push off the edge and jump into the water. I could feel his eyes on my breasts as I went under the water. Intrigued, he jumped in after me and followed me all the way down the waterfall. We both got out of the water at the bottom of the waterfall, looked silently at each other, and smiled.
Then I stood at what was set up like a gas station. But instead of gas it dispensed lubrication, and instead of paper towels there were personal wipes. I went to grab a few wipes but found them very dirty. Not wanting to know how they had gotten dirty, I moved over to another station that was much cleaner.
I used a few wipes and cleaned myself up. He had been a virgin. I knew that Steven could never marry Megan now after having sex with me on the day before their wedding. He was enamored with me an no longer interested in his wedding.

Michael had gotten the cam working at his parents’ place and had stayed up until everyone was asleep so that he and I could share webcam feeds. He looked cramped, as if the computer was positioned between the edge of a bed and some glass counter display. After a bit of chatting he excused himself for the bathroom and I sat back on my bed.
I, too, was visiting a family relative. I lied down on the bed, curled into a partial fetal position that I knew he could see through the cam. Michael got back to the computer and smiled at me looking sleepy. He stood up and peered over his computer monitor at the bed and asked me to move over to his bed:we were in the same room.
I stood up and he embraced me. He then picked me up and cradled me intimately like a lover. I put my head on Michael’s shoulder and kissed the smooth skin of his neck and gave him a little bite. He sighed.
Then he and I were out shopping. We wandered through clothing stores and he went to one wall and grabbed a pair of cute, brightly colored shorts. He turned to his right to show me the shorts but I had moved on and was a ways away to his left. Michael held the shorts up to me and I nodded my agreement to try them on; I would agree to try anything on if he had asked.
He kept looking through the clothes and I kept walking away from him when I walked into an Employees Only door. Jake held up a large, heavy-duty men’s jacket with short sleeves. He and his coworkers and I laughed about the silly short sleeves, and then Jake thought it would be even funnier if I tried it on.
The jacket was so huge on me that the short sleeves covered my wrists. He then brought me a nicely tailored blue women’s running jacket, the shape and color of which I just loved. But I knew it would be one size too small, and when I tried it on the arms were much too small.
I was then sitting in the back seat of Jake’s car with he and his sister in the front seat. He was having a lot of trouble getting the car to start: it would turn over but not catch.
His mom, who had been sitting in her car next to us which also would not start, went inside to try to convince her toddler to come out and start the cars. She was a genius with cars, Jake told me, and she was the only one who could ever get his car started. But she refused to come outside.
After a lot of pleading she finally came out of the house, leaned over the open hood, and emitted this horrible high-pitched squeal that lasted much longer than I would have liked. But almost immediately both cars started fine.

Dad took Melissa and me to a greenhouse to buy plants. Once we got inside the greenhouse we discovered that the shelves and pots were empty. We were late and most of the plants had already been sold.
I wandered around for a long time while Dad talked with some of the other adults. There were a lot of people in the greenhouse standing around talking, but none of them were in any possession of plants. I found three flats of ferns in one corner and grabbed them even though I didn’t like them.
I went upstairs and saw that it was similarly empty; Marty and Stephanie were up there goofing off but I just wanted flowers.
I saw a glimmer of pink and purple across the room and dashed to one pot that appeared to still have some flowers. Upon closer inspection, however, I could tell that whatever had been planted in that pot had been removed and three little flowers had been pressed to the side of the pot and dried there.
I was directing Michael into an Employees Only fenced-in yard of a large company in Homer. There was something very important and special I wanted to show him, but we needed to be very careful to not get caught where we didn’t belong.
Following my directions, Michael drove our car inside the gate and, when we reached our destination, tucked the car far away from spying eyes. We got out of the car and he put his right arm around my waist and pulled me close so that I was standing in front of him, my back pressed against his chest, and we both looked at the special thing.
We walked out of the gates and passed many men, they were employees, who stood by a large puddle of water that nearly covered the road. They were on the verge of recognizing we didn’t belong there, but I flashed a large smile to the men and acted as though I belonged so that they would not be alarmed.

I had a big pile of dough on the railing in front of me. I stretched it between the posts of the walkway outside of some motel rooms, winding the dough around each post until it was stretched well. I pinched off a piece of dough and ate it; the bread tasted so sweet and warm as if right from the oven.
I went up the stairs to the second level, and found my second pile of dough on the upstairs railing. A woman stepped out from one of the motel room doors with a lump of dough much smaller than mine.
I decided to wait to stretch my dough so as to give the other woman opportunity for hers. I stood there waiting and watching her talk with another woman who came from a different door. I wondered how long she was going to hold her dough before stretching it.
It was getting later so I quickly did some calculations in my head and determined the number of posts she would need to properly stretch her dough. Leaving that number of posts available, I proceeded to use the remaining posts to stretch mine.
I wove the dough around and around the posts until it was smooth and tight.
