Dream Journal

dreamed on February 7, 2006

I was walking down the side of a road on a dark night. I passed by a shop window and could see a light on in the back. I stopped and saw Michael in a back room sitting in a high-tech gaming chair, presumably playing some games but only Michael and the chair were visible through the room’s doorway.

I stood outside with my hands in my jacket pockets watching him for some time, and then I decided to go inside. So as to not bother him, I moved quietly into a different room and found myself in a storage room with a door to an employee’s bathroom off to the side. The storage room was somewhat lit, but none of the main lights were on.

A tall, skinny woman appeared at the door and turned on a light switch. I knew she was Michael’s business partner and was probably wondering who I was and what I was doing in there, but she didn’t say anything to me.

Without saying anything to her, and without looking or feeling guilty in the least (which I knew she wanted me to feel), I wandered back out to the front. All of the lights had been turned on and Michael was standing behind a counter helping the customers that had suddenly filled his shop.

I walked behind the counter and behind Michael towards the main entrance to leave. I thought he had caught me out of the corner of his eye, but I knew he was busy and didn’t want to interrupt. I was wearing my bright blue heavy winter coat and felt very conspicuous. I put my hand on the glass entrance to leave and turned around. I caught Michael’s eye and held it for a few beats. I smiled at him, which he returned, and then I left the store.
