B and I were taking part of a contest where all the individuals were split into groups of four. B and I went ahead and the other two members of our team would meet up with us.
To start properly, we needed a boat. B and I headed to the harbor and started up my dad’s boat. We prepared for a short trip. I stood in a building next to the harbor talking on a white cordless phone with Damon. I can see the harbor and the boat through a large window.
B came up behind me and took off his boots. I asked him if he would tie the boat up because I had realized we had forgotten. He turned to leave but turned back to tell me something. I interrupted and demanded that he tie the boat up NOW because it is floating away. He understood and bolted out the door to get to the boat.
I leaned out the window to get a better look and told Damon on the phone to hold on. I jump out the window into a ledge with the intentions of jumping onto the boat before it drifted away. I was too late.
Later, we were both on the boat floating toward the beach.
