Dream Journal
Damon and I were standing talking in Melissa’s room waiting for the bus to come. It was scheduled to stop at 5pm; we would board it and take our road trip. The bus pulls up to the house early, but Damon says that bus will wait until its scheduled time. I am worried about the bus’s early arrival because we still need to pack for the trip. I lean out Melissa’s window and see an old silver greyhound bus covered in frost out in the parking lot. As I watch, the bus is leaving even though the clock says 3.15p. We missed our bus, and I am very worried because I don’t know how we are going to go on our trip now.
I am with a group of people at the grocery store. I walk over to the makeup aisle just to look. There are a few girls from my high school also looking at the makeup. I decide to purchase a miniature lipstick and a pat of eye shadow. Walking to the counter, I grip the makeup in such a way that the tip of the lipstick breaks off. I consider putting it back and getting another, but instead I keep walking towards the checkout counter.
At the checkout, my two small purchases come to just over 50 cents. Rummaging through my purse, I pull out two pieces of very expensive, individually wrapped, chocolates. I do a quick calculation and determine the larger of the two chocolates is worth at least 50 cents, probably more. I place both chocolates on the conveyor belt as my payment. The male clerk looks at the chocolates, fingers them, and looks back at me inquisitively.
While he is deciding whether or not to take my chocolate payment, I look up and see two girls from high school, Briar and Nadia, checking out at a different counter. Their clerk was faster then mine, so they got out of the store quicker.
Out in the parking lot, I don’t know where the car is. I see the van that is part of the trip caravan, but I am not riding in the van. Finally at the other end of the parking lot, I see the truck that is my ride. Connie (a lady from homer) is in the driver’s seat - it is her truck - and Damon is standing beside the passenger’s door.
I walk over to the truck and stand talking with Damon, waiting for the rest of the group to come out of the store. Another truck drives up and parks next to the one by which we stand. The driver has very frizzy hair and also looks like Connie, but she turns out to be Melissa. She gets out of her truck with a large dog and says something about bringing the dog along. Damon wants to say no, but I point out that we have a special doggy-motorcycle-compartment-thing that rides next to the truck. I don’t see any reason why the dog can’t ride in there.
I am at the doctor’s office seeing a female doctor for my cough. She uses a stethoscope to listen to my lungs. Standing in front of me with the stethoscope to my chest, she decides I need some deodorant. She pulls out a small sample stick of deodorant and pulls up my shirt to apply it to my armpits.
All this while Damon is standing somewhere behind me. He is not a part of the scene or the action, nor is he paying any attention to the doctor and me. He is merely there.
Melissa and I are in my parents’ back yard behind the shop at night. We are looking for a hidden entrance to something. Poking near a barrel, a small explosion happens to scare us off. Back at the house, we get a prophetic message that the entrance is under the barrel.
We return to the rear of the shop and pull the barrel back - its quite heavy. Behind it is a hole in the ground with presents and old toys mixed in the dirt inside the hole. The hole is only three feet deep, but it connects to a small tunnel below. She hops down in, hunches over, and disappears left into the tunnel. Just as I worry about her, she reappears.
We turn to go to the house and see an old abandoned car sitting about 20 feet away - it hadn’t been there before. We run to the house and return to the secret entrance with more people: Rodney, Jen, B, and one other girl.
B and the other girl spot the abandoned car and she goes over to inspect it. She returns to the group and says that the car has a deep fat fryer in it and therefore is no harm to us. Rodney, Jen and Melissa hop into the hole; Melissa asks if I’m coming. I really don’t want to and say no. B sits in his car a few feet away, the other girl stands beside me.
Even though I don’t want her to, Melissa has to go into this hole and stop whatever evil is brewing down there. She doesn’t have any other choice, but she accepts it.
At first the hole looks so small that they have to shimmy on their belly. She tells Rodney and Jen that in a few feet they’ll be able to stand up; they disappear into the hole and head left.
Wanting to watch them go, and wanting to see what the tunnel looks like, I climb into the hole completely intending to not go any farther. Dropping into the hole, I make a sound that Melissa hears; she turns around and asks if I’m coming after all. I look at her and see they have entered a well-lighted, tan colored carpeted tunnel, and they are able to stand comfortably. She walks towards me and I see some blue stripes in her hair; in a split second she looked like Damon and I tell her so.
Craning my neck, I looked out of the hole and tell the other girl that I’ve decided to follow Melissa anyway. The girl looked concerned, but didn’t try to stop me. I tell her to let B know that I love him. I yell, ‘I love you!’ then follow Melissa into the tunnel.
When the tunnel gets larger, I stand up and nearly hit my head on a ceiling beam. We turn a corner and come to a table sitting in a large hallway. We gather around the table and discuss important matters around what might be a map.
I was walking towards the table when I see a middle-aged woman and a teen boy walk into the hallway from a tunnel different than the one we were in. They looked upset that so many people were there. I recognized them, and asked if their last names were Beachy. The woman glanced at me, nodded, and then stared at Melissa as the two of them continued to walk by the table.
The lady indicated that she wanted to talk to Melissa privately. Melissa followed the two of them into a room. I knew that the two people were trying to dissuade her from continuing this quest to stop evil. They were in there a long time, and then Melissa came from the room alone looking a bit worn out.
Melissa said that when she walked into the room, she appeared in my parents’ living room and was standing in front of dad. He was sitting in his chair watching a movie. He yelled at her and yelled at her for one thing or another.
I said, ‘Sweetie, I’m sorry you had to talk to him without any preparation.’ She told me that it wasn’t really dad - it was a vision intended to stop her from going any further. She said that after dad yelled at her, the lady reappeared and shot something at Melissa with her hand. She told me that she then called dad and asked him if he was watching a movie, and he said no. That is how she was certain it was a vision.
I asked Melissa how she had escaped. She said, ‘I just did this,’ and raised her right hand. From her wrist shot a bright green ball of light towards my eye. It was terribly bright and hurt my eyes. I told her to watch where she aims that thing.
I knew that Melissa had this power within her to defeat whatever evil lay underground, and I was no longer scared for her.

I drive into the Post Office parking lot. As I am getting out of my car, I see April getting out of a large truck. I am confused at seeing her in Alaska, but am happy to finally meet her. We both go inside and I hold the door for her. We both say hi to each other and then head to our mailboxes.
While getting my mail, I keep thinking about how she perceives me - I am sure that I am fatter than she had pictured me. She is shorter than I had imagined. As I go to drop a letter in the outgoing mailbox, I pass her leaving. I tell her goodbye.
After mailing my letter, I see some industrial shelving sitting next to the outgoing slots. Each shelf is labeled with seemingly random three-digit box numbers. A young man is standing there also inspecting the shelving.
On one shelf at eye level is my old black purse. I open it up and find it is filled with all of my stuff: my wallet, checkbook, pens, mirror, and receipts. A female postal worker comes up behind the shelves and tells me that I can take whatever I find on the shelf.
Next to where my purse was are a bunch of plastic screws and snaps. The young man grabs a handful, but I decide to not take any.
B and I were looking at possible new apartment. I turned the corner into the kitchen and see that it is very long - about 20 feet long and 7 feet wide. It has two sinks and two ovens. I remark at how much counter space and cupboard space there is.
I completely fall in love with this kitchen.
Dana is looking at it with me, and she also loves the kitchen. She mixes some flour and water together and makes pizza dough. She puts it into the microwave; we stand and watch it heat up.
The landlord comes into the kitchen and suggests that it would cook better in the stove. We turn around and Dana sees one area of the counter is covered in flour and balls of dough. She comments that she didn’t need to make dough if she had seen this on the counter originally.
I had planned on reproducing some sort of ritual in where I would be killed. I had enlisted the help of a Hawaiian/Polynesian to kill me for this ritual. He has done such rituals before.
I was standing in Damon’s entryway while this man prepared for the ritual in Damon’s living room. He wandered back and forth a lot, acting as if he weren’t very prepared to be doing any sort of killing.
Damon, Dana, Beth, and B all told me goodbye and went outside. Melissa was standing next to me not saying anything. She watched the Polynesian man walking confusedly around with me. I felt that she was standing with me like she did just before my wedding ceremony started - to be with me as long as possible. When she sensed that she could no longer be beside me, she gave me a big, hard, long hug.
Through her hug, I knew that she didn’t want me to go through with the ritual - she didn’t want me to die even though she wouldn’t say anything.
After some consideration and after the hug, I told the Polynesian man that I didn’t think I was ready to go through with it. He told me that many people think they are ready when they aren’t, and he completely understood. He told me to let him know when I was ready to finish the ritual.
Melissa and I left Damon’s place and got into her car - the one B and I had bought. I got into the drivers seat, and she in the passengers seat.

A small group of people was floating below the surface of the ocean in a small bay. One man was holding a clipboard and kept asking where, exactly, we were. One lady to my left kept answering his question by saying we were in the middle of the ocean.
The man had once owned a building just on shore, but the building was now quite run down.
One of the other women was wearing a long and brightly colored fleece hat that resembled fleece dread locks. The dreads were swept over one shoulder. She was floating below the surface of the water with the rest of us when a strong force pulled her backwards.
She continued to pick up speed. Faster and faster, she was finally pulled into what looked like a seaweed-covered hill. As she went in, she screamed. I had a deep sensation that what she had gone into was similar to hell.
She was passed through some sort of tunnel and came out into brighter water. There were people dressed in a brilliant white awaiting her arrival. I knew that their people were angels, and the place was like heaven.

B and I walk from a building to our car so that we can go to the store. Opening the car doors, the interior is our bed. We crawl under the covers and curl up together naked. My dad comes outside from the building and heads to the car. B sits up rather quickly and turns on the light about headboard so that my dad won’t know that we were lying together in bed. I stay lying down under the covers.
We then get out of the car in the Eagle Quality Center parking lot. Inside, I am carrying a small and fuzzy female puppy in my left arm. I get distracted by the store and walk a few feet ahead of b. Glancing behind me, I see him talking with his sister Sarah. I speed up because I don’t want to talk to her.
Hurrying down a twisting hallway, I see her running to catch up with me. I enter into a large room when she does catch up with me. I don’t mind having her with me; I’m glad she’s there.
We look at displays set on blue velvet covered tables that line the room. We are the only two people in the room, and I decide to let the puppy walk on the tables and stretch her legs. She walks to the table’s edge and jumps off. Sarah and I lunge to grab her, but she evades our grasp.
After a bit of running and lunging, we get the puppy back. Sarah and I decide to leave the room with the puppy. At the doorway, Sarah leans back into the room and yells, “bye, Izzy!” At that moment, I realized that all I was wearing was my see-through panties; and I didn’t know that Izzy was in the room - he must have gotten a really good look at me.
Not yet having gotten the two items I needed at the store, I entered the main supermarket area. I tried to hold the puppy so that it covered my left breast; I also held her with my right arm, using my arm to cover my right breast. I was very self-conscious and uncomfortable being naked in a public area.
I got my first item, and put it under the dog because she wasn’t big enough to fully cover my breast. The second item I needed was many aisles away. It was a box of packs of gum.
When I got it, I also held it to help cover my breast. Walking to the checkout, the packs of gum and the other item kept slipping from underneath the puppy, exposing my breast.
Sarah tried as hard as she could to help me stay covered, but there wasn’t much she could do. The whole time she walked on my right while I held the dog in my left arm. No one else in the supermarket noticed my nudity.
