Dream Journal
I was a large bird-like creature - part bird, pterodactyl, and schoolyard bully. I flew around a small town terrorizing its inhabitants. I had grabbed two people and, standing on the ocean shore, threw one as hard as I could to my right. He flew like a curveball in baseball, stopping at a white obelisk barely visible to the human eye, but with my superior make up, I could see it perfectly. I could also see the path the person took as I threw him. I then threw the other person to my left. She also went in a curveball fashion, landing at another white obelisk far into the ocean and far from the first one.
I turned around, feeling satisfied with my job well done, when I was in the court of the town leader. She told me that she was concerned that the evil guardians of the obelisks had stolen her precious dogs. She was enlisting my help to rescue them. I didn’t really want to go save them, knowing I was the one that threw them there, but I didn’t want the town leader too upset at me - so I complied.
I flew first to the obelisk on the right. I could feel my large and powerful wingspan granting me speed. The water was calm so I flew only a few feet above it instead of high in the sky. I reached the obelisk and went to the side farthest from the town. There I found its guardian holding a small black and white dog. The dog looked scared enough to stay with the guardian. I demanded that I be given the dog, but the guardian refused. If I wanted the dog, I would have to answer one question.
The guardian asked its question in riddle form. It was one sentence consisting of few words. I thought that one word in the riddle was the answer, but I was wrong. The answer was the opposite of the word I had thought was the answer. Before the guardian realized I was wrong, I had grabbed the dog. The guardian then came at me with a knife-like weapon. Because I was hovering only a few feet off the surface of the ocean, I swung my powerful wings back and down into the water to push away from the obelisk. Escaping the guardian’s advance, for it was not able to leave the base of the obelisk, I flew back to shore with the dog.
